day 11 kilsyth to tyndrum 66 miles

When we got up and watched the weather forecast before brekky carol (BBC) said we were in for sunshine and showers, after brekky she's only gone and changed her mind and dumped a huge rain cloud over the whole of Britain, hence, we've had a whole day cycling in pouring rain. This put us in foul moods to begin with, after a while and a quick rendition of club tropicana, we dug feep, or deep even, and got on with it. Initially thru country roads, starting with a huge hill, then on to main roads, no other option up here, but they weren't too bad, but by 66 miles we had had enough and decided to stop off at a town that inspired a Japan album ;-) all bnbs were full but found a nice hostel with a drying room, which is handy cos ALL our stuff is either soaked or damp :(. Have decided to try and get to fort Augustus Tmrw rather than drumnadochit, re worked mileage good job last 3 days were lower! Once again cheers for all the comments xxx

  1. Hi to you both. Heres to some dry weather for the last few days. We are worried about the lack of tea rooms mentioned. Congratulations on getting this far. Enjoy the rest. Pepsi and shirley

  2. I think Big Sis is a secret Wham! fan...
Sorry to hear you got soaked. Bad BBC. No biscuit!
I agree with Shirley though- hardly any tea rooms, that can't help your mood!

  3. Oh gosh, yes and an awful band lead by David Bowie, oh no, that was Tin Machine, ah, I know, chain of 3 bar/restaurants in Brighton and Hove, anyway..... I remember thinking how 'committed' (take that whichever way you like) you two were when, a year or so ago, you still went on a planned BLAGSS ride in heavy rain! I guess you were already in training for this adventure. I really hope the weather improves for you but you are in Scotland now so ;(((. Today in Brighton and Hove we have really strong winds, took me half an hour to cycle from the West Pier to Mrs Bumbles and 30 seconds to get back. I can only hope that the wind is blowing in the right direction for you and you make the 'Wheels keep on turning and turning and turning and nothings disturbing the way they go around'. thinking of you both loads no-hands xxx
